I am a Danish-German product designer based in London. I work from sketch through to execution. This includes strategy, user experience design (UX), user interface design (UI) and its corresponding front-end code. These are interconnected elements and I bring them together to form a coherent whole.

I have led product development on numerous projects and have extensive strategic expertise. Alongside this, I have deep technical knowledge of the systems and architectures required to deliver successful digital products. This site showcases several examples of my work, ranging from client projects to self-initiated endeavours.

Helping young people

National Saturday Club provides young people across the country with access to their local university, college or museum to discover subjects they love. Their existing web-presence did no longer represent the full reach and opportunities available and I was tasked with overhauling it.

I started by engaging with the schools involved and the Club's founders to get an overview of the its background and future plans to fully understand what they needed. This research informed me to design a flexible templating system, which had to accommodate a variety of material from slideshows, videos, masterclasses alongside key details such as sign-up information.

From the outset, the new site was organised so that the young people could easily find clubs that they were interested in. I also took into account what parents and carers would need, it had to cater to a variety of audiences. During Covid I also helped create a digital resource to keep the young people engaged at home.

Connecting spaces

Freuds is a global independent public relations agency, and I've collaborated with them on several projects, both internal and client-facing. When they moved into their new office on Stephen Street in Central London, they installed a giant grid-like structure showcasing artwork from their collection in their reception.

For their new website, I took this grid and worked to replicate the experience online. This approach effectively created a unified and consistent experience between their physical and digital spaces.

The grid was designed to feature two distinct modes: one showcasing photographs of the artwork, and another—the default view—highlighting client projects and offering visitors an intuitive way to explore the breadth and diversity of Freuds' work.

What is it this about?

Millions of Londoners live under Heathrow's flightpath and are impacted by the airport's close proximity to the capital. Planes Over London provides a 14-day forecast as to whether Heathrow arrivals will be flying their approach over London or be approaching from the west avoiding the city.

I live under the flightpath, the planes directly impact my quality of life. To make the prediction, the site pulls down the wind direction and speed and presents its forecast. Initially launched just an experiment it quickly grew in reach and now serves thousands of Londoners weekly.

The current iteration of the project shows runway use, an archive and a live-radar. I also created it so that the site is designed to respond to the weather and much more while retaining its easy of use both for regular and new visitors.

Break it down for me

Aviation contributes approximately 5% to global carbon emissions and its increasing. Lite Flights is based on the very simple premise that individuals can make a difference by making informed choices.

Not all aircraft types are created equally. The projects maps the carbon emitted per aircraft type and presents the visitors with results ranked by their emissions. I launched the project in 2020. Lite Flights was the first flight search engine in the world to truly rank flights by their emission. Now this method is baked into almost every flight search engine in the world.

I designed an experience which made it clear what options were the best without labelling any 'green' (flying is not green), but still encouraging people to select options that produce less of an impact on the planet. Alongside I also added a editorial platform to inform and educate visitors alike.

What is this?

Airlines have been flying over the Arctic Circle and crossing the North Pole since the 1950s. Crossing this airspace was the only way of connecting Europe with South East Asia as the Soviet airspace was off-limits, almost impenetrable. Today the Russian airspace is yet again closed.

All existing aircraft radar application present the world using the mercator map projection, which distorts the appearance of the polar regions. I created Polar Radar to provide a fresh, new look down on the poles and show the aircraft crossing the polar regions.

I designed the site to be fun but useful experience. Alongside tracking flights, it also hands out passengers on these flights have the ability to generate and print out a polar crossing certificates, mimicking the hand fans and certificates that airlines used to hand out during the Cold War.

Context

Lite Alliance provides a single platform for emission verification and offset management specifically for private jet market. The platform is flexible, accurate and transparent with two verification routes and a detailed forecasting tool.

The platform empowers business jet operators to accurately calculate, validate, and offset their carbon emissions. I planned, designed and develop the site to be friendly, approachable platform. I created a simple yet very detailed overview of individual operators, which breaks down their aircraft, carbon offset projects and individual emission transactions.

To sit alongside operator and individual aircraft pages, I also designed an event page that outlines major events around the usually frequented by private jets around the world like Formula 1 grand prix. I mapped these and their carbon emissions to bring awareness of their impact.
